11th International
Auriculotherapy Symposium
September 8th - 10th, 2023 - On behalf of G.L.E.M.
Pain is an uncomfortable sensory and emotional experience associated with tissue or potential damage classified into four different types: nociceptive, neuropathic, nociplastic and psychogenic pain. It may be acute or chronic. Initially, pain is a helpful short-term alert symptom that can be cured. After three months pain becomes a disease with multiple factors, unnecessary, like a false alarm and self-maintenance. Somatotopy and information processing in the somatosensory cortex, auricular somatotopy are not immutable but adaptive explaining the limits of the ear map and the so-called excluded areas. Taking the pulse using the RAC or VAS signal, auricular acupressure, treating emotional trauma, and managing stress and anxiety can at least partially relieve the chronically painful patient. Auriculotherapy allows a beneficial effect on the emotional burden of chronic pain by activating several levers neurovegetative on sleep disorders, eating disorders, mood and muscle tone. This research is part of an integrated health care program because it is multidisciplinary and respectful of the patient.
